For three generations and almost seventy years, Green's Garage has been Miami's independent alternative to the dealership. We're not a chain. We're not a franchise. We're the shop families in Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest and South Miami have driven to since 1957 — and the shop their kids and grandkids still bring their cars to.

We're full-service: electrical diagnostics, A/C, brakes, engine, suspension, scheduled maintenance and hybrid work, for every make on the road.

What separates us is method. We diagnose before we quote, we measure instead of guessing, and you get written findings before anything is authorized.

And we run one of the few independent hybrid and high-voltage programs in Miami — including module-level battery work most shops refer out.

You're in the Right Place If You're Dealing With

A hybrid or EV battery you've been quoted for — Prius, Camry, Accord, Civic Hybrid, Fusion, Volt, Sonata, i3, Volvo T8, Cayenne E-Hybrid. Before you spend thousands, get it measured. A meaningful share of quoted packs turn out to be a 12V battery, a cooling fault, a converter, or one module.

A/C that isn't cold, or failed again after a recharge — the recharge wasn't the fix, and running the system low is how a small leak becomes a compressor.

A battery that keeps dying — overnight, after a weekend, after the dealer already replaced it. Parasitic drains are our specialty and they're epidemic on modern Land Rover, Volvo, Audi and BMW.

A no-start, or warning lights that come and go — especially after parts have already been replaced. Intermittent electrical is exactly what scope-level diagnostics exist for.

A hybrid warning light — "Check Hybrid System," "Hybrid System Malfunction," "IMA System Problem," "Drivetrain Malfunction," "Restricted Driving Function." Every manufacturer words it differently and none of them names the cause.

Overheating with no visible coolant leaks, or only in stop-and-go — a Miami summer classic on Land Rover, Volvo, Audi and BMW.

Engine noise that changes with temperature, load or RPM — the kind that gets worse after sitting in Palmetto traffic.

Oil leaks the dealer says require major access, or that came back after a previous repair.

Air suspension faults on your Land Rover, Range Rover, Mercedes AIRMATIC, Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne or Volvo XC90 — rough ride or full failure.

An estimate from the dealer or another shop you want a second opinion on before authorizing.

If any of that describes your situation, we're built for it. Call (305) 444-8881 or schedule a diagnostic online.

How We Work — The Diagnostic-First Method

Reading a code and replacing the most common cause works for clear-cut failures. It fails badly when the real fault sits upstream of the code.

Symptom interview first. Before we connect anything, we ask the driver exactly when the problem happens, what it sounds like, what triggers it, and what's already been tried. Half of all misdiagnoses happen because nobody asked the right questions.

Full module scan, not a code read. Every module on the vehicle — engine, body, ABS, climate, gateway — with the Autel Ultra S2, including bidirectional control and live data. Where a repair requires manufacturer coding, configuration or adaptation, we have factory-level software access. That's the difference between reading P-codes and reading the whole vehicle.

Scope-level physical testing. Scan data points at a system; measurement confirms which component. PicoScope for signal integrity and current-ramp analysis, current clamps for parasitic draw and motor testing, pressure and leak-down testing, smoke testing for vacuum leaks. A shorted coil winding looks fine on a meter and obvious on a scope.

Root cause, not symptom. A misfire code on cylinder four doesn't always mean cylinder four's coil. It might be a shorted injector harness, a timing chain tensioner starved of oil pressure, or a sensor fault upstream causing the module to report it. We separate cause from symptom before quoting.

Written findings before any repair. You get the diagnosis in writing — the root cause, the evidence, what we tested and found good, and the repair options with costs. You decide what to authorize.

We don't replace parts to see whether it fixes the problem. That's how cars come back, and how customers end up paying for two repairs to solve one fault.

Miami's Independent Hybrid & High-Voltage Program

Most independent shops won't open a high-voltage system. They read a code, see an HV fault, and refer the car to the dealer. The ones that do take the work often solve it the expensive way — replacing the battery pack, because that's where the code points.

We hold ASE L3 Light-Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist certification: the advanced credential covering high-voltage system diagnosis, isolation testing, battery service and hybrid powertrain work. It's a separate qualification from ASE Master, and it's what makes this work safe and legal to perform.

We diagnose before replacing

A large share of quoted pack replacements resolve to a single weak module, a degraded 12V auxiliary battery, a blocked cooling vent, a failed coolant pump, a charging fault or a converter problem — once someone measures the system instead of trusting the code.

Before you spend thousands on a battery, get it measured.

And when a module has genuinely failed, we replace the module — not the pack

We operate an EV battery service table and work at module level: pack removal, module-by-module voltage and internal resistance measurement, component replacement, and battery management system coding.

That capability is rare among independent shops in Miami, and it's frequently the difference between a repair proportionate to the car's value and a bill that writes it off.

What We Do for Every Make

Whatever you drive, we service it — routine maintenance, system repair and complex diagnostics across European, Japanese, American and luxury platforms. Same method, same 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty, same shop.

A/C Repair & Diagnostics → Compressor, condenser, evaporator, climate control modules. R-134a and R-1234yf equipped, plus dedicated POE equipment for hybrid and EV electric compressors — cross-contamination with conventional oil destroys them. Leak-trace before recharge, always.

Auto Electrical Repair & Diagnostics → No-starts, battery drains, shorts, warning-light storms, wiring and module faults — diagnosed with oscilloscope-level testing and long-duration current monitoring, not parts-swapping. If your car has an electrical gremlin nobody has been able to find, this is the department that finds it. See also Crank No-Start Diagnostics →

Hybrid & High-Voltage Diagnostics → ASE L3 certified. Battery state-of-health and module-level analysis, inverter and power electronics, charging faults, isolation testing, regenerative braking.

Engine Repair & Diagnostics → Oil leak diagnosis, misfire diagnostics, overheating, timing chain and belt service, noise and vibration analysis, carbon cleaning. See also Oil Leak Diagnosis → · Coolant Leak & Overheating → · Warning Light & Misfire →

Brake & Stability System Repair → Pads, rotors, ABS module diagnostics, electronic parking brake service mode, stability and traction faults. Brake fluid moisture testing every visit — Miami humidity accelerates the failure threshold. On hybrids and EVs, regenerative braking means the friction brakes barely get used and corrosion becomes the failure mode long before wear does.

Suspension & Steering Repair → Air suspension system-first diagnosis, conventional struts and shocks, control arms and bushings, four-wheel alignment.

Second Opinion & Advanced Diagnostics → Unresolved warning lights, multi-fault scenarios, and repairs that didn't solve the problem. For when you've already paid once.

Scheduled Maintenance → Factory-spec fluids and service intervals for every make, documented for warranty preservation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work on my hybrid or EV? Yes, and we go further than most. We hold ASE L3 Hybrid/EV Specialist certification and operate an EV battery service table, which means module-level pack work rather than automatic dealer referral. We service Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Ford, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Volvo, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, Land Rover and Chrysler hybrids and EVs. Battery state-of-health analysis, inverter and power electronics, charging faults, isolation testing and regenerative braking. If you've been quoted a battery replacement, bring it here first — a meaningful share turn out to be something else.

I've been quoted a hybrid battery. Can you check it before I authorize? Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons people call us. We measure every module individually — voltage and internal resistance — plus the 12V auxiliary battery, the cooling system and the charging electronics. Sometimes the quote is confirmed. Often the fault is a 12V battery, a blocked cooling vent, a converter, or one module rather than the whole pack. You get written findings either way.

Can you replace one module instead of the whole battery? Often, yes. We operate an EV battery service table and work at module level. But it only makes sense when the rest of the pack is healthy — a good module in a broadly degraded pack ends up carrying the others. The module-by-module data tells us which situation you're in, and we'll tell you plainly when a full replacement is the honest answer.

What makes Green's Garage different from the dealership? Three things. We're independent — not paid on parts volume, no service manager pushing upsells. We diagnose across every make rather than one, so European, Japanese, hybrid and luxury vehicles don't get referred out. And we've been doing this in Miami since 1957, three generations in the same building.

What kinds of vehicles do you service? Every make on the road. We're full-service — A/C, brakes, engine, suspension, maintenance, hybrid, and advanced diagnostics across European, Japanese, American and luxury platforms.

What diagnostic equipment do you use? The Autel Ultra S2 for full-vehicle module scanning, bidirectional control and live data. PicoScope 4425A with current clamps for signal-level and current-ramp testing — which is how you find shorted windings, parasitic drains and intermittent faults a code reader can't see. Factory-level manufacturer software for module coding and adaptations. And Class 0 insulated tooling plus an EV battery service table for high-voltage work.

Do you offer a warranty? Yes — 2 years or 24,000 miles on most diagnostic-led repairs, parts and labor.

My car has an electrical problem nobody can find. Can you actually fix it? This is our specialty. Intermittent faults, batteries that keep dying, warning lights that come and go — these defeat most shops because they need oscilloscope-level testing and long-duration current monitoring, not a code reader. We test circuits under real operating conditions and document the fault before recommending any part. That's why we can warranty electrical repairs for 2 years.

My Mercedes shows "Service A" or "Service B" — what does that mean? That's Mercedes' ASSYST PLUS system. Service A is the lighter first-year service, usually around 10,000 miles or 12 months: synthetic oil and filter, all fluid checks, tire pressures, a full brake inspection, and a service counter reset. Service B is more comprehensive, usually around 20,000 miles or 24 months: everything in A plus cabin filter replacement and a brake fluid exchange. We perform both with Mercedes-spec MB 229-series synthetic oil and reset the indicator afterward.

Will independent service void my factory warranty? No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, independent shops can service your vehicle without voiding the factory warranty, provided we use equivalent parts and procedures. We document everything. Active warranty repairs, recalls and goodwill claims should go through the dealer — and hybrid battery coverage runs long on most of these vehicles, so check your status before paying out of pocket.

How quickly can I get an appointment? Same-week in almost all cases. For urgent issues — no-start, overheating, brake warning, A/C failure mid-summer — often same-day. Call (305) 444-8881.

Habla Español? Sí. Tenemos personal que habla español caribeño nativo.
